Professor Zoran Hadziahmetovic, MD, PhD, was born in 1953 in Belgrade. Elementary school, Gymnasium and Medical Faculty attended in Sarajevo and graduated in 1977. After obligatory medical practice since 1980 work at hospitals in Sokolac and Tuzla. Residency in general surgery started 1980 at the Traumatology Clinic of the University Medical Center Sarajevo. Postgraduate course finished in 1984. Specialist examination passed in 1985. and in 1987 defended master thesis with title „Knee ligaments injuries and their treatment“ at the Medical Faculty in Sarajevo. Doctoral (PhD) thesis with title “Correlation of external fixation with other treatment methods in war conditions“ defended in 1996. Elected for the higher assistant at the Department for surgery and war surgery of the Medical Faculty of the Sarajevo University in 1993, for assistant professor in 1997, associate professor in 2003, and full professor in 2009. Responsible teacher for topic Urgent medical assistance at the Medical Faculty of Sarajevo University since 2007. Teacher of the International association for internal fixation AO/ASIF. Head of the Clinic for Emergency Medicine of the Clinical Center of Sarajevo University since 1997. Elected again for the member of the Board for surgery of the Department of medical sciences of Academy of science and art of B&H in 2004. Published more than 150 articles in domestic and international publications from field of surgery, traumatology, orthopedics, sport and urgent medicine. Author and co-author of 7 books from which 4 are university editions; Surgery (for medical and dentistry students) – 2001., War surgery (for medical and dentistry students) – 2001., Principles for fracture treatment of small animals bones with compressive ostheosynthesis – 2001., Surgical treatment of bode defects in traumatology – 2001., Hip endoprothesis (implantation and rehabilitation) – 2003., Traumatology (university textbook) – 2005., Urgent medical assistance (university textbook) – 2008. Participant of several scientific-research projects: „Emergency medical service“, (1998) – Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ministry of Health, „Frequency of malignant tumors in B&H population“, (2002) – Academy of Science and Art of B&H, „Congenital anomalies“, (2004) – Academy of Science and Art of B&H. Leader of Project; „Reconstruction of soft tissue heel defects with free micro vascular and reversible supramaleolar fasciocutaneous slice“, (2007) – Ministry of education and science of Canton Sarajevo. On scholarship of Arbeitsgemeinschaft fur Osteosynthesefragen – AO / ASIF / 1991 spent three months at the; Klinik fur orthopaedische chirurgie, Kantonsspital Bruderholz, Basel (Prof.Werner Muller) and Chirurgische klinik, Tiefenauspital, Bern (Prof. Hans Urlich Satubli). Attended longer and other educative and study visits at the following clinics; Ospedale. Magiore (1995), Hospital General du Catalogna (1997), Unfallchirurgische klinikum Minden (1997), Kasr. Al-Aini teaching hospital, Faculty of medicine Cairo University (1998), St.Vincent Hospital, Sydney (1998), Ospedale San Spirito, Roma (2001), University College Hospital London (Euston) – Accident & Emergency Department.
