Professor Doncho Donev has a rich professional and broad spectrum of national and international activities with remarcable achievements and contribution to the development of Social Medicine and the New Public Health in Macedonia, SEE Region and broader. Prof. Donev is founder of the Chair of Social Medicine in 1994 and the Institute of Social Medicine in 1997, as well as one of the key founders of the Center of Public Health at the Faculty of Medicine in Skopje in 2003. There is a broad scope of educational, research and publishing activities, in which Prof. Donev participated actively within the Stability Pact Training and Research Cooperation in SEE countries Project 2000-2007 and then transformed into Forum for Public Health Cooperation in SEE (http://www.snz.unizg.hr/ph-see/index.htm). Prof. Donev participated in writing many textbooks, being editor or co-editor of some of them and author of many teaching modules, for postgraduate education in public health at the SEE Region level. He contributed actively to many international public health conferences and meetings in almost all countries in the SEE Region and broader at the European and global level. His contribution to strengthening mutual understanding and international cooperation in the field of Public Health education and research activities and practice made him a respective member of the public health community in Macedonia, SEE countries and broader. As WHO National counterpart from R. Macedonia, from 2006, Prof. Donev contributed in preparing the European Strategy on Non-communicable Diseases (NCD) Prevention and Control and related activities in R. Macedonia toward preparing National Strategy and Action Plan for NCD Prevention and Control in R. Macedonia. Prof. Donev is actively involved in the activities of the European Public Health Association (EUPHA) being a member of the International Scientific Committee for more than 10 years, as well as in the activities of the World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA). Prof. Donev participated actively to the Days of Academy of Medical Sciences of Bosnia and Hertzegovina 2013–International Scientific Conference “Publishing Integrity and Misconduct in Biomedicine”, held in Sarajevo, June 21, 2013. He delivered presentation entitled “Principles and standards of scientific communication–Uniform requirements for manuscript submitted to biomedical journals” and later on published an editorial paper in PubMed journal Acta Informatica Medica, in December 2013, entitled “Principles and ethics in scientific communication in biomedicine” (http://www.scopemed.org/fulltextpdf.php?mno=48407). This editorial paper was, about two months in early 2014, at the first place of the Scopemed Top 20 Hottest and Cited Articles. In December 2016 Prof. Donev contributed actively to the First Mediterranean Seminar on Science Writing and Publishing, held in Sarajevo, Dec 2-3, 2016 and for preparing and adoption of the Sarajevo Declaration on Integrity and Visibility of Scholarly Publications (http://www.cmj.hr/2016/57/6/28051276.htm). In 2013, Prof. Donev was one of the reviewers of the book entitled “Science Editing in Biomedicine and Humanities” (Authors: Izet Masic and Enes Kujundzic), published by Avicena, Sarajevo in 2013:272 pg., and the first reviewer of the book entitled “Contribution to the History of Medical Informatics” (Izet Masic and George Mihalas, eds.), published by Avicena, Sarajevo in 2014:264 pg.
