Slobodan Jankovic was born in 1961, in Kragujevac, Serbia. He graduated at the Medical Faculty, University of Belgrade, in 1986, with an average grade of 9.96. He defended his Master thesis in 1990, in the field of neuroscience („Comparative pharmacological analysis of neural control of human and guinea-pig gallbladder motility.“ Center for multidisciplinary studies, University of Belgrade), and PhD thesis in 1993, in the field of experimental pharmacology („Pharmacological analysis of muscarinic receptor subtypes in smooth muscles of stomach.“ Medical Faculty, University of Belgrade). He also specialized general surgery in 1992 and clinical pharmacology in 1996 (with the thesis „Individualization of antibiotic dosage regimens in surgical patients.” Medical Faculty, University of Belgrade). At first (until 1995) he was working as a general surgeon at Clinical Hospital Center in Kragujevac, Serbia. In 1995 he founded the Clinical Pharmacology Department in the same hospital, transformed in the meantime to the Clinical Center, and ever since he works as Head of this department. From 2002 onwards he is also serving as president of the Quality Assurance Committee  of Clinical Center in Kragujevac, and from 2001 to 2012 established and chaired the Ethics Committee of the Clinical Center. At Medical Faculty, University of Kragujevac, Slobodan Jankovic became an assistant in 1987, a docent in 1994, an associated professor in 1996, and full professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology in the year 2000. In the year 2006 he became also elected full professor of Clinical Pharmacy. He teaches pharmacology, toxicology and clinical pharmacy. He also served as the Dean of Medical Faculty in Kragujevac, from 2001 till 2002, and as the Vice-Dean until 2011. Slobodan Janković published about 430 full text articles in medical journals, 9 textbooks, and his works were cited about 1,820 times (Hirsh’s index 19) (https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Slobodan_Jankovic2, RG Score 42,93; Scopus Author ID: 7101906319). He was chief editor of Serbian Journal of Experimental and Clniical Research (ISSN 1820 – 8665) from 2008 to 2012, and of Rational Therapy (ISSN 1821-0538), and is currently serving as a member of the editorial board of the following journals: Sanamed, Hospital Pharmacology, European Journal of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, Medical Archives, Acta Informatica Medica, Materia Socio-Medica, Konuralp Medical Journal and Medicinski Glasnik. He is also serving as a reviewer in numerous journals, with 180 verified reviews at Publons (https://publons.com/researcher/287846/slobodan-jankovic/). For his work Slobodan Janković received the following awards: Annual award for best specialist work in 1997, ICN Pharmaceuticals (Yugoslav branch), Annual award „Prof. Dr Vojislav Stojanovic“ of Serbian Association of University Professors of education, in 2005, Annual awards of City of Kragujevac for Medicine in 2006 and 2012, and for Education in 2009, and Annual award of Serbian Medical Society for scientific work in 2016. He is member of Serbian Medical Society, Greek Pharmacological Society and Medical Association for Rational Therapy of Republic of Serbia.

 

Professor Senaid Trnacevic, MD, PhD. EDUCATION: In 1990 he earned PhD at Faculty of medicine, University of Tuzla. In 1985 he was scholarship holder of Austrian government at Vienna University at Clinic for Internal Diseases, Clinical Centre AKH, Vienna. In 1982 he finished specialization in Internal Medicine at Internal A Clinic of University in Belgrade. He worked as an assistant and docent for the subject Internal medicine, since 1996 as associate professor and since 2003 has been working as a full professor for the subject Internal Medicine of Medical Faculty of Tuzla University. Since 2018 he has been elected as Professor Emeritus of Tuzla University. He was scholarship holder of German government through DAAD scholarship programme at University of Munich in 1992 and 1997. During his professional and study visits he attended Clinics of Universities in Ljubljana (Slovenia), Zagreb (Croatia), Nis (Serbia), Vienna (Austria), Munich, Libek and Hamburg (Germany) from 1997 to 2015. He attended educations in the field of Kidney Transplantation in Vienna, Hamburg , Libek and he was the initiator of organ transplantation in Bosnia and Herzegovina after 1992-1995 war. PRESENT POSITION: He was a full professor of Internal Medicine at Medical Faculty of Tuzla University until 2018. He has been Professor Emiritus of Tuzla University since 2018. He published 112 of his works and 26 of them are deposited in eminent indexed databases. He is a mentor in 5 master’s theses. He is a mentor in 5 completed doctoral theses and two in progress. He was the President of the Association of Physicians for Nephrology, Dialysis and Kidney Transplantation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is a member of the Committee for Southeast Europe for Endemic Nephropathy and numerous societies for Nephrology and Kidney Transplantation in Europe.He is the organizer of two congresses of Nephrologists with international participation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is also an invited lecturer in the field of Endemic Nephropathy and Kidney Transplantation at Universities in Vienna and Munich. He has done many projects in the field of Epidemiology, Morphology and Endemic Nephropathy in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is a participant in the implementation of 5 textbooks for students. Works on Endemic Nephropathy and Transplantation are cited on Google databases. He received special acknowledgments and appreciation for the development of Nephrology, Dialysis and Kidney Transplantation in Bosnia and Herzegovina from occupational and nephrological patient associations. For his credit and outstanding contribution to the development of Medical Faculty of Tuzla, at Tuzla University as well as for the affirmation of its reputation in the country and abroad, he received a special appreciation during the celebration of 40 years anniversary of this Faculty.

Profesor Enisa Mesic was born in 1956 in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Education: in 1981 MD degree at the University of Sarajevo; from 1987-1988 residency of internal medicine at Clinical Center „Rebro“ Zagreb, in 1988 specialist in internal medicine, visiting felow at University Hospital Columbia Missouri, USA in 1997; in 1997 PhD degree. Present ition: Head of the Nephrology, Dialysis and Kidney Transplantation Department, Clinic of internal diseases, University Clinical Center Tuzla; regular professor of internal medicine, Medical School of Tuzla University. Publications: peer review articles – 105; books – 14; invited lectures at major international meetings – more than 100; MSc thesis supervisor – 12; PhD thesis supervisor – 4. Her papers have been cited 246 times (Google Scholar), h-index 8. Awards honors and achievements: „Tuzlanska plaketa sa zlatnim grbom“ (2001) for transplantation achievements in Bosnia and Herzegovina; Transplant lider of Transplant Society for Bosnia and Herzegovina (2007). In 2008 she was delegat from Bosnia and Herzegovina during the Istanbul Summit about organ trafficking and transplant tourism. She is pioneer of Renal Registry and Donor Network in Bosnia and Herzegovina. She is regular member of Society of Neprology, Dialysis and Kidney Transplantation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, European Renal Asociation, International Society of Nephrology and Transplant Society. She has organized as a president of scientific commeeties over 20 scientific and professional conferences with domestic and international participants, including ERA-EDTA and ISN CME. She was actively involved as speaker and session chairman at various conferences worldwide in the fields of dialysis, clinical nephrology and kidney transplantation. Scientific interest: acute kidney injury, renal anemia, Balkan endemic nephropathy, chronic kidney diseases, dialysis, plasmapheresis, kidney transplantation, ethics in transplantation.

Professor Sefik Hasukic, MD, PhD, has rich professional development and broad spectrum of national and international activities with remarcable achievements and contribution to the development of Surgery, especially in the field of minimally invasive surgery, where he was a pioneer in BiH in the introduction of new laparoscopic surgeries. Professor Hasukic had the following academic degrees, educations and position held: in 1983 he earned M.D. at University of Tuzla, Tuzla, Bosnia-Herzegovina; in 2000 he earned M.A. at University of Tuzla, Tuzla, Bosnia-Herzegovina (thesis title: « The changes in the pulmonary function after laparoscopic and open cholecystectomy»). In 2002 he earned Ph.D. at University of Tuzla, Tuzla, Bosnia-Herzegovina (thesis title: «The changes in hepatic function aftter laparoscopic and open cholecystectomy»). in 2003 he has been elected as Assistant-professor, Department of Surgery, University Hospital Tuzla, 2006: Vice dean for science and research, Medical faculty, University of Tuzla, in 2008: Associate Professor of Surgery, and in 2014 he has been elected as Professor of Surgery, Medical faculty, University of Tuzla. Prof. Hasukić participated in writing many textbooks, being editor or co-editor of some of them and author of many teaching modules, for postgraduate education in laparoscopic surgery. He is the author of one book in the field of laparoscopic surgery and 3 chapters in other books. He contributed actively to many international laparoscopic surgery conferences and meetings in almost all countries in the region and broader at the European and global level. Prof Hasukic is a member of the following surgical associations: Bosnia and Hercegovina Association of General Surgeons, since 1995; European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES), since 2001. Prof. Hasukic is one of the founders of the Association of Endoscopic Surgeons of BiH, founded in 2018 and was the president of the founding assembly of this association. He is author and coauthor of 70 scientific and professional papers published in national and international medical journals and proceedings of national and international conferences, from the narrow scientific field of laparoscopic and abdominal surgery. In the journals which are indexed in Current Contents database he published as the author 9 articles. The articles which are cited in the Medline database count 40 articles. Prof Hasukic was the leader of several projects in the area of laparoscopic surgery. He was a mentor for the preparation of doctoral dissertations in 11 projects. She is an active leader of the course “Clinical Research-Surgical Disciplines” at the doctoral study of the Faculty of Medicine in Tuzla.

Professor Doncho Donev has a rich professional and broad spectrum of national and international activities with remarcable achievements and contribution to the development of Social Medicine and the New Public Health in Macedonia, SEE Region and broader. Prof. Donev is founder of the Chair of Social Medicine in 1994 and the Institute of Social Medicine in 1997, as well as one of the key founders of the Center of Public Health at the Faculty of Medicine in Skopje in 2003. There is a broad scope of educational, research and publishing activities, in which Prof. Donev participated actively within the Stability Pact Training and Research Cooperation in SEE countries Project 2000-2007 and then transformed into Forum for Public Health Cooperation in SEE (http://www.snz.unizg.hr/ph-see/index.htm). Prof. Donev participated in writing many textbooks, being editor or co-editor of some of them and author of many teaching modules, for postgraduate education in public health at the SEE Region level. He contributed actively to many international public health conferences and meetings in almost all countries in the SEE Region and broader at the European and global level. His contribution to strengthening mutual understanding and international cooperation in the field of Public Health education and research activities and practice made him a respective member of the public health community in Macedonia, SEE countries and broader. As WHO National counterpart from R. Macedonia, from 2006, Prof. Donev contributed in preparing the European Strategy on Non-communicable Diseases (NCD) Prevention and Control and related activities in R. Macedonia toward preparing National Strategy and Action Plan for NCD Prevention and Control in R. Macedonia. Prof. Donev is actively involved in the activities of the European Public Health Association (EUPHA) being a member of the International Scientific Committee for more than 10 years, as well as in the activities of the World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA). Prof. Donev participated actively to the Days of Academy of Medical Sciences of Bosnia and Hertzegovina 2013–International Scientific Conference “Publishing Integrity and Misconduct in Biomedicine”, held in Sarajevo, June 21, 2013. He delivered presentation entitled “Principles and standards of scientific communication–Uniform requirements for manuscript submitted to biomedical journals” and later on published an editorial paper in PubMed journal Acta Informatica Medica, in December 2013, entitled “Principles and ethics in scientific communication in biomedicine” (http://www.scopemed.org/fulltextpdf.php?mno=48407). This editorial paper was, about two months in early 2014, at the first place of the Scopemed Top 20 Hottest and Cited Articles. In December 2016 Prof. Donev contributed actively to the First Mediterranean Seminar on Science Writing and Publishing, held in Sarajevo, Dec 2-3, 2016 and for preparing and adoption of the Sarajevo Declaration on Integrity and Visibility of Scholarly Publications (http://www.cmj.hr/2016/57/6/28051276.htm). Professor Mirza Biscevic, MD PhD was born in Banjaluka, Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H). He has completed his under and postgraduate studies with excellent marks, in Austria and Slovenia. For more than 20 years he has been devoted to the development of orthopedics in our country and introduced many modern spine surgery techniques after his many felloships in Turkey and USA. Ten years ago he has established a modern spine center at the Department of orthopedics of Clinical Center of Sarajevo University (KCUS). His outstanding CV is enriched with dozens of publications, nationally and internationally recognized, many of them are in CC and SCI classifications. Remarkably, Prof. Mirza Biscevic was elected as the youngest professor of surgery (age of 34 y.) in our country and was head of orthopedics curricula at University of Tuzla. Thousands of surgeries, 12 generations of students, a few masters of sciences have been emerged under his supervision. Also, his achievement is internationally recognized by the function of member at large in Executive Committee of the EFORT (European Federation of Orthopedic and Traumatology Associations, www. efort.net). Additionally, he is the current President of Bosnia & Herzegovina Orthopedic Association (UOTBIH, www-uotbih.ba), member of Scoliosis Research Society (www.srs.org), and common board member and organisator of plenty orthopedic meetings in the region. In many research projects he has taken a significant part, for instance two European COST projects.

Professor Pavle Milenkovic, MD, PhD is Professor of Faculty of Dental Medicine of University of Belgrade, Serbia. He has worked as Laboratory Head and retired professor of pathophysiology of Faculty of Stomatology at Institute for Medical Research in Belgrade and Faculty of Stomatology (changed name to Faculty of Dental Medicine) in Beograd, Serbia. He was President of Scientific Council of Faculty of Dental Medicine of University of Belgrade, Serbia. He is member of Advisory Board of the journal Srpski Arhiv za celokupno lekarstvo, official journal of the Serbian Medical Society. He has been elected as Associate Member of Academy of Medical Sciences of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the year 2009. He as been President of Academy of Medical Sciences of Serbia.

Professor Zeljko Reiner, MD, PhD, MD, PhD, was born in Zagreb 1953, where he finished primary school, classic gymnasium and in 1976 graduated at the Medical Faculty. In 1978 became Master of Science, and 1982 PhD in Zagreb. Residency completed between 1979 and 1983 in internal medicine at the Clinical hospital KB “Sestre milosrdnice”, Zagreb and University hospital Eppendorf in Hamburg, Germany. Postgraduate education attended in Oklahoma City, USA 1984-1985. Elected to Dozent (Associate professor) in 1986 and for professor of Medical Faculty in Zagreb elected for the first time in 1988. From 1997 he is professor of internal medicine at the Medical Faculty in Zagreb as permanent position. Awarded with title „Fellow of the Royal Society of Physicians” – FRCP (London) and „Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology”–FESC. From 1986 until 1995 he was a head of the Clinical Department of the Clinic for pathophysiology of the Clinical Center in Zagreb; from 1995 until 2003 he was a chief of Clinic of Internal diseases of the Clinical Center in Zagreb. In period from 2003 acted as head of Institute for metabolic diseases and from 2004 Director of the Clinical Center in Zagreb. Member of the Academy of medical sciences of Croatia from 1990, and its President since 2004. From 1992 to 2006 he was an associate-member of the Croatian Academy of science and art (HAZU), and since 2006 full time member–academician. He is a leader of the Board for atherosclerosis of the HAZU. In period 2000 – 2006 he was a head of the Department for internal medicine of the Medical Faculty in Zagreb. In 2007 elected to honorary citizen of city of Korcula. Published 395 scientific and professional articles. As a visiting professor worked at the several universities in USA and Europe, invited lecturer at the series of European and World congresses, and member of the scientific board of almost all European and World congresses with topic on atherosclerosis during last 25 years and European and World Cardiology congresses, and in Croatia he organized and was president of several congresses. From 1983 until now he was a leader of several scientific-research projects. Member of editorials of several most respectful international journals („Nutr Metab Cardiovasc Dis”, “Atherosclerosis”,”Europ J Cardiovasc Prevent Rehabil” etc.) and domestic ones (“Lijecnički vjesnik” etc.), also is a reviewer of the most respectful international journals („Lancet”, „J Cellular Biochem”, „J Am Coll Nutr”,”Fundam Clin Pharmacol”, „Ann Nutr Metab” etc.). Was a member of the Managing Board of the European Society on Atherosclerosis, member of the Managing Board of the European association for prevention and rehabilitation of cardiovascular diseases and its Program Committee for science and guidelines, member of the European Committee for for prevention of cardiovascular disease and Program Committee of the European cardiology Association and Committee for guidelines of the European Cardiology Association, founder and president of the Croatian Association of atherosclerosis, founder of the Croatian Association of hypertension, founder and vice president of the Croatian Association for obesity etc., and was a general secretary of the Croatian Association of physicians. Now is a member of the Main Board of the Croatian Association of physicians. Awarded with prize “Ladislav Rakovac“ of the Croatian Association of physicians and awarded with several highest medals of state. He was a President of the Commission for medication of the Republic of Croatia in period 1992-2000 (member of the Commission in period 2004-2008), and president of the Commission for the honorary title of primarius (chief physician) (1998-2000). He was a President of the European committee for fight against smo0king (2000-2002). Since 2005 he is a member of the working group for development of the European guidelines for prevention of cardiovascular diseases, and since 2009 as president of the working group for development of the European guidelines for diagnostics and treatment of dislipidemy. From 1995 until 1998 he was a member of the Executive Committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) – the highest managing body of this organization. He was a member of the three person’s international committee for awarding one of the most significant prizes in medicine “Leon Bernard Prize”. For the European Commission he was a reviewer of the health projects within FP 6 and FP 7 suggested financed by the European Union. Author of series of chapters in more than twenty books and textbooks published internationally and in Croatia, he was also a leader off several courses in undergraduate and 7 postgraduate studies. Editor of 17 books and manuals (“Pharmacotherapy manual”, „Internal medicine” etc.). In period from 1993 until 1998 he was a deputy of Minister of Health and from 1998 until 2000 Minister of Health of Republic of Croatia. From 2007 he is a president of the National Health Council, and since 2008 member of the Board for health and social welfare of the Republic of Croatia Parliament.

Professor Mustafa Sefic, MD, PhD, was born in Banja Luka in 1940. In 1964 he graduated at the University of Zagreb, in 1970 specialized ophthalmology, 1976 defended PhD dissertation with title of the thesis: “Correlation between clinical picture and pathohistological changes in optic nerve head in experimental rabbit glaucoma”. He was full time professor of ophthalmology at Medical Faculty University of Banja Luka and at Medical Faculty University of Sarajevo, and visiting professor at Medical Faculty University of Rijeka (Croatia). Also, he was Professor emeritus at Medical Faculty University of Sarajevo. Professor Mustafa Sefic certified clinical training at the University Eye Clinic of Banja Luka and the University Eye Clinic of Zagreb from 1966-1970 and clinical and scientific work as an ophthalmologist at the University Eye Clinic of Banja Luka 1970-1994 and the University Eye Clinic of Sarajevo University since 1994. He published more than 100 (123) articles, published in National, European and American journals. He was supervisor on several MSc and PhD thesis. He made contributions (written or edited) in 19 ophthalmological books, text-books and brochures, interesting for medical students, ophthalmologists, physicians but, also, patients. He is coauthor or leading author in 5 scientific-researching projects, three of them international. Taking part in many National, European and International meetings worldwide since 1969 (San Francisco, Amsterdam, Rome, Berlin, Prague, Dresden, Dubai, Helsinki, London, Thessaloniki, Sophia…), also, as an invited speaker (11 times). Organizer of many national (12) and international congresses (5), various clinical courses all around the Europe, and organizer of them, too. He performed clinical training at many Eye Clinics all around the Europe. Medical degree “Chief physician” received in 1982. He was the Head of the Department of Ophthalmology, Medical Faculty University of Banja Luka and Medical Faculty University of Sarajevo. He was the Dean of the Medical Faculty University of Banja Luka in period 1987-1991 and Head of the University Eye Clinic in Sarajevo. He was a member of the Editorial board of a few medical and ophthalmological journals; First Editor-in-Chief of the “SouthEast European Ophthalmological Journal” and the ”Ophthalmological Journal of Bosnia & Herzegovina”. Also, he is founder and the first president of the South-East European Ophthalmological Society (Albania, Cyprus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Turkey, Ukraine with 250 million population and more than 35.000 ophthalmologists), president of the Bosnia & Herzegovina Society of physicians in Banja Luka, president of the Ophthalmological Society in Federation Bosnia-Herzegovina. Professor’s Mustafa Sefic scientific interest are: Glaucoma, Cataract-surgery and Clinical contactology. He is Fellow of the World Academy of Art and Sciences (WAAS), member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Croatia (HAMZ), member of the European Glaucoma Society and member of the Foundation Board of the South-East European Ophthalmological Society.

Professor Emir Mujanovic, MD, PhD, was born on 13 April 1964 in Tuzla. Elementary school and high school graduated in Tuzla. Medical Faculty in Tuzla graduated in 1992. Specialist exam in general surgery passed in 1999, and a sub specialist exam in cardiac surgery in 2009. Part of training in cardiac surgery of 6 months completed at the Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, United States in 1997, where he participated in work of the „Center for Less Invasive Cardiac Surgery” and completed the training in the field of coronary artery revascularization without using cardiopulmonary bypass. He is graduated attendee of a seminar on less invasive cardiac surgery at Buffalo, 1997 and 1999, seminars on pacemakers in Philadelphia, United States, 1997 and in Zagreb, Croatia, 2001 and seminar on cardiac surgery technique“Le Clube Mitral” Paris, France in 2003. Graduate of the program of English language institute of the State of New York at Buffalo, 1996. In 2003 as a fellow of Norwegian Research Council worked for 4 months as a researcher at the Centre for Interventions, as well as visiting cardiac surgeon at the Department of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery of the National Hospital in Oslo, Norway. The degree of master of medical science gained in 2002 at the Medical Faculty in Tuzla by defending the master’s thesis entitled „Coronary artery revascularization without cardiopulmonary bypass”. For senior assistant at the subject „Surgery” at the Medical Faculty in Tuzla elected in 2002, PhD in 2005 at the Medical Faculty in Tuzla by defending doctoral dissertation entitled: “Intraoperative quality control of coronary artery bypass grafts”. To assistant professor at the subject „Surgery” at the Medical Faculty in Tuzla was elected in 2006, to associate professor on the subject „Surgery” at the Medical Faculty in Tuzla was elected in 2011. He is author and coauthor of 52 scientific and professional papers published in national and international medical journals and proceedings of national and international conferences, from the narrow scientific field of cardiac surgery, 23 of which are indexed in the Medline. He is the author of the chapter „Surgical treatment of congenital heart defects”, and coauthor of the chapter „Surgical treatment of ischemic heart disease” in the university textbook „Cardiology” by: Zumreta Kusljugic and associates. He was a mentor several master’s and PhD theses. Participated in the preparation of two projects: Project for improving governance and inter-ethnic cooperation in B&H trough eHealth (eHIGICo B&H), where he was the author of the cardiac part of the course entitled „Surgical treatment of coronary heart disease” and the project „Boscore” (Bosnian studies for coronary risk assessment). Both projects were funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway. He is a member of the European Association od cardiologists, Association of cardiologists and Association of surgeons of the Federation of B&H.
