Professor Dzelaludin Junuzovic, MD, MSc, PhD, was born in 1955 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He completed elementary, secondary and higher education in Sarajevo and graduated at the Faculty of Medicine of Sarajevo University in 1981. Since 1984 he was employed in the Department of Urology, at first as assistant surgeon and then as an urology resident. After passing the specialist exam in 1989 at the same Clinic works as a specialist in urology. Promoted as a Chief physician in 1995. He completed his clinical postgraduate studies at the Medical Faculty in Sarajevo, and defended his master thesis in 1999 on the topic: „Obstructive uropathy and their treatment during the war in Sarajevo”. Doctoral dissertation on the topic: „Urology approach to diagnosis and therapy of erectile dysfunction”, defended in 2003 at the Faculty of Medicine, Sarajevo University. His narrow areas of interest are erectile dysfunction and sterility. He passed stages of the election in all academic titles in subject Surgery and War Surgery, the area of Urology: the assistant in 1996, the senior assistant in 1999, then assistant professor in 2004 and the title of associate professor in 2009. During the war and postwar period he showed great organizational skills, resulting in the performance of managerial functions. Since 1992 he worked as a Section Head in the Department of Urology. In 2004 he fills the position of the Head of the Clinic of Urology, and since 2016 he serves as the Head of Surgical disciplines at Clinical Canter University of Sarajevo. Prof Junuzovic was a mentor for 15 master and PhD candidates. He has organized many scientific and professional conferences in cooperation with the European Association of Urology (EAU) as well as with the European School of Urology (ESU) and Association of Surgeons of F BIH. Since 2003 he is a permanent court expert in the field of urology. Prof Junuzovic is a Member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2012 and the first President of “Association of Urologists F BIH”. He is also a member of the conciliatory team for cadaverous transplantation in F BIH at the Clinical Canter University of Sarajevo. Prof Junuzovic published over 80 different publications as author and co-author and 35 of them have been published in peer-reviewed indexed medical journals. His most influential publications in the field of Urology are books: „Erectile dysfunction”, “Emergency Urology – diagnosis and treatment” and “Urolithiasis Guidebook”. He received several awards and honors for his contribution to the development of urology in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which places him in the position of leading urologist in our country and the region.
